Hemang-Buoho (Ash), Jan. 7, GNA - Nana Kwesi Detoh, Kwabre District Director of the Department of Town and Country Planning, has urged the District Assembly to take a critical look at the rate at which open spaces earmarked for development projects in the communities are being sold to private developers.
He said the spate at which private individuals were turning open spaces meant for community projects into estate development was so alarming that there was the need for immediate action to stem the phenomenon.
Nana Detoh made the call when he led a team from his outfit to demarcate a school land for the people of Hemang-Buoho in the District on Wednesday.
The community has no public school because it is alleged that the landowners had sold all the open spaces earmarked for school to private individuals.
The director warned owners of all those building on public lands in the area to produce their building documents to the Assembly for verification within the shortest possible time.
Failure to do so, he said, would lead to court action for the immediate demolition of those structures to pave the way for the proper project demarcated for the space.
