The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) will with effect from today, September 2, 2005 withdraw its services nationwide.
A statement signed by the General Secretary of the GMA, Dr. Kwabena Opoku-Adusei, said this was due to the failure of the government to meet legitimate demands for payment of the Additional Duty Hour Allowance (ADHA) arrears on the new salary levels.
It said an extraordinary meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the GMA convened yesterday, September 1, 2005 deadline for the payment of the ADHA showed that government's failure in that regard.
The statement however said in-patient care would continue while the NEC would monitor the situation and communicate with its membership accordingly.
