Doctors Petition Management After Colleague's Murder

Junior Doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have presented a petition to the management of the hospital demanding a 24-hour security protection at their flats and various parts of the facility.

The decision to petition the management of the Hospital follows the suspected murder of a colleague Junior Doctor in his room at the hospital on Sunday.

The death of 27-year-old Desmond Kabah has created fear and panic among many doctors at the hospital. XYZ News understands that some Doctors have even packed out of their residence for fear of being attacked.

No arrests have since been made but DSP Freeman Tetteh, PRO for the Accra regional Police command says investigations are still ongoing.

He told XYZ News that security have also been intensified at the hospital. However, Vincent Ganu, the Public Relations Officer of the Junior Doctors Association in an interview with Accra based Joy FM on Tuesday, said security at the hospital is very porous and want drastic changes to assure them of their safety.

He said following the death of their colleague, management of the hospital promised improved security within 24 hours but have failed to live up to their promise.

According to him, nothing has been done by management to improve conditions at the hospital which he said has raised concerns among the doctors and other staff members.
