Doku Clinic loses Doctor in a freak accident at Adenta

Two people including Dr Daniel Kweku Akyea of Doku Clinic in Madina lost their lives when an ambulance from Akropong-Akwapim collided with two other cars at the Adenta SDA junction on Thursday night.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Hajia Sa-Ada Mohammed Mustapha of the Adenta MTTU Command, said the accident occurred when the Ambulance traveling at a high speed with a patient to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, crashed into Dr Akyea’s Hyundai car.

She said the ambulance after hitting the private car, veered off the road and crashed into a stationary Trotro bus and then hit two other pedestrians killing a woman on the spot.

ASP Mustapha said Dr Akyea together with the other wounded people were rushed to Legon Hospital and 37 Military Hospital for treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

She said the deceased have since been deposited at the Police Morgue for a postmortem examination.

ASP Mustapha appealed to all drivers who ply on the uncompleted road from Madina junction to Pantang junction to exercise some restraint to avoid such accidents.

She said any driver caught speeding beyond the acceptable limits would be arrested and put before the Motor Traffic Court for prosecution.**
