Domelevo is a goner, Akufo-Addo has sacked him to protect corrupt officials – Ex-NDC chairman alleges

The proceed on leave directive issued the Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelevo by President Akufo-Addo is the first step of a calculated plan to oust him from office, Alhaji Mohammed Sani, a senior member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo has resolved to rid the Auditor-General of his position and nothing will bring him back.

He said that the President’s decision to ‘force’ the Auditor-General to go on leave at a time he was investigating the Senior Minister is ‘wrong’.

He also alleged that Domelevo is being haunted by the government after he declined to be a party to the mismanagement and corrupt actions of some officials.

The former Ashanti regional First Vice-Chairman of the NDC suggested among the plethora of issues the Auditor-General was about to audit, was money the government took from the Stabilization Fund to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

“This Domelevo issue, the timing is wrong in the first place. This is a time the Auditor-General is battling with Osafo Maafo. The Board Chairman of the Audit Service has never allowed Domelevo to work. What they wanted him to do was to lie but he did not. They are misusing funds and are scared he will expose them,” He said.

Adding, “We are demanding accountability on the money they took from the Stabilization Fund and the amount of money they spent on the food for the vulnerable so they had to fire him. There is nothing like leave. They have sacked him and he is not coming back. Akufo-Addo has sacked him, mark it on the wall. Domelevo himself knows that he is not coming back".

President Akufo-Addo last week instructed Yaw Domelevo to exhaust his accumulated 123-day leave.

Determined to go down without a fight, Domelevo on the first day of his leave wrote back to the President claiming bad faith and urging him to reconsider his decision.

The President’s response to Domelevo’s letter was an extension of his day from 123 to 167 days.
