The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Major General Obed Boamah Akwa has issued a warning to members of the anti-galamsey taskforce, Operation Vanguard, that the military will not tolerate any form of collaboration between them and illegal miners.
The CDS issued the warning at the launch of the Central regional wing of Operation Vanguard at Dunkwa Kyekyewere in the Upper Denkyira East district.
He further pledged that the taskforce remains committed to achieving the president’s vision of ensuring that the menace of illegal mining which has left many water bodies contaminated becomes a thing of the past.
He said: “Let me make it abundantly clear that any act of indiscipline amongst you that is collaborating with these galamsey people will be dealt with very swiftly. It’ll be highly unpatriotic to be assigned this important role and to turn round to collaborate with these illegal miners.”
