"Don't allow yourself to be influenced during elections" - Youth urged

Offinso (Ash), Dec. 30, GNA - Nana Adu Amanfo, Mawerehene of Offinso Traditional area has advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used to cause confusion and mayhem during next year's general election.

The youth, he said, should rather unite and use their energy to increase productivity and maintain peace and stability in the country. In an interview with Ghana News Agency at Offinso on Monday, Nana Adu Amanfo said the Ghanaian youth were a great asset to the nation and must therefore be encouraged to harness their potentials for development.

He said: "The role of the youth in nation building cannot be over-emphasised", and urged the youth to be disciplined, hardworking and be tolerant during next year's electioneering campaign. Nana Adu cautioned politicians against the tendency of influencing the youth with money and other material achieve their (politicians) personal ambitions.

He said: "Politicians must be tolerant and respect each other's views so that we can maintain peace and stability during the electioneering campaign next year."

The Mawerehene advised his fellow traditional rulers not to be sycophant and do anything that would taint the dignity, image, respect and reputation of the chieftaincy institution during the general elections.
