Don't assault teachers when they discipline children

Kumasi, Nov 22, GNA- Mr Osei Assibey Antwi, Ashanti Regional First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has admonished parents not to assault teachers who discipline their children.

He said discipline is needed to achieve, desired results and stressed the need for parents to co-operate with teachers in inculcating moral values into their children.

Mr Antwi, who was speaking at the first open day of the Saint Thomas International School in Kumasi on Friday, said stiffer punishment should be meted out to parents who assault teachers.

"We must not spare the rod to spoil the child, because in the long run it is the nation which will be at the receiving end when indiscipline children become a nuisance to the society".

Mr Thomas Osei Owusu, the proprietor of the school said computer studies will be introduced as from next academic year.

He entreated the private sector to complement government's efforts at ensuring the success of the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) for Ghanaian children.
