Don’t compare your ‘chalewote’ to NPP’s 'boot’ - Bawumia mocks NDC

Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated his argument that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a better manager of Ghana’s economy and has outperformed the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stressing that in every aspect of the economy, the current NPP government has performed better.

“When it comes to the performance of the economy in the first term in office of our government under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, when you compare…then it is clearly a case of ” boot for chalewote,” he told trainees of the Nation Builders’ Corps(NABCO) at the closing ceremony of the Celebration of NABCO’s first anniversary in Accra last Friday.

Dr Bawumia also added that prudent management of the economy under the current NPP government has led the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to project that Ghana will be the fastest growing economy in the world.

“But hold on, last year Ghana was also among if not, the fastest growing economy in the world. In 2019, Ghana is going to be the fastest growing economy,” he stated.

He further reiterated the point that the Nation Builders Corps( NABCO), a programme which offers temporary employment for only graduates, is part of a well-thought-out broader plan to transform Ghana’s economy.

“Ladies and gentleman, let me put all of this in a broader context because what the government of Nana Akufo Addo is doing with NABCO is just one piece of a greater jigsaw that we are putting together for the transformation of Ghana as a whole,” he assured the enthusiastic crowd.

The Nation Builders Corps is a policy by the government to provide temporary employment for graduates for a period of three years within which they would have acquired much needed skills and competence to gain permanent employment or start businesses of their own. The programme has since employed 100, 000 graduates.
