Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has warned against compromising on quality in the nation’s quest for free education for pupils and students.

Speaking at the 15th Anniversary celebration of AWOPEDEC Social School in Accra, Mr. Pratt Jnr, expressed his support for any initiative that would ensure that all children are in school but that should not be at the expense of quality.

“In pursuing the goal of ensuring every child goes to school, care must be taken not to compromise on quality for quality education is indispensable to the development of every country in the world” he stated.

Mr. Pratt Jnr emphasized the need for the nation to identify its values in order to inculcate them in the up-and-coming generations.

He called on all and sundry to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to go to school to secure the future of the nation and the world, commending the founder of AWOPEDEC Social School for taking care of the educational needs of the neglected in society.

Madam Edwina Okuadjo, Proprietress of the School, admonished parents against reneging on their responsibilities as custodians of their children.

She advised them to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of a brighter future for the wards, calling for their support in ensuring no child is left behind in education.

She appealed for support from corporate bodies and individuals for the school to continue with free education for children in the area.

The school’s cadet corps, cultural troupe and several children, entertained parents and other guests.

The 15th anniversary of AWOPEDEC Social School, a fee-free school in Teshie in Accra, was under the theme, “Educating for Ghana’s future; Whose Role, What role.”

The school was set up to take care of the educational needs of underprivileged children in the Teshie and Nungua area and has raised several students for the various secondary schools and tertiary institutions.
