Mr. Samuel Oppong, the Municipal Chief Executive for Agona West has called on Muslim leaders to counsel their youth not to indulge in political violence before, during and after the 2012 elections.
He said the situation where Zongos' and indigenes of Agona Swedru, Nyakrom and Agona Duakwa clashed some years ago did not promote peace and development.
Mr. Oppong made this known when he addressed members of Zamarama Community on Saturday at Agona Swedru.
He spoke about the clash at Hohoe in Volta Region and said the country cannot develop without peace.
Mr. Oppong appealed to the Zamarama community to support activities of the government and added that the assembly was in the process of securing land to resettle the Zongo people whose houses were destroyed in 2010 floods that hit Agona Swedru.**
