Don't destroy posters of political parties

Apagya (Ash), July 14, GNA - Mr Andrew A. Gyamerah, Chairman of the New Edubiase Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reminded Ghanaians that it was an offence under the Political Parties Law to destroy posters or banners of any party.

He said the destruction of posters and banners in the 2000 political campaigns posed serious threat to the peace in some parts of the country and warned against that practice.

Mr Gyamerah was addressing NPP Polling Station Executives in the Adansi Apagya Electoral Area in the Adansi East District, as part of an educational programme for them.

He entreated supporters to desist from any acts that would drag the name of the Party into the mud, since that would reflect negatively on the Party.

Mr Gyamerah entreated the Executives to embark on door-to-door campaigns to tell the people the good work of the Government and to win more members for the Party.

He asked the Party's supporters to conduct their campaigns in absolute peace and told them not to regard their political opponents as enemies.

Mr Kwame Owusu, Constituency Financial Secretary, asked them to hold periodic meetings with their members and visit them in their homes to know their problems and help to solve them.
