Former President Jerry John Rawlings has warned former Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh not to ever attempt disrespecting his wife again or he will respond strongly.

According to the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ms Tetteh has on several occasions maltreated his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

In an address delivered at a Town Hall meeting of cadres and NDC activists at the Arts Centre in Accra on Saturday, 17 March 2018, Mr Rawlings said Ms Tetteh showed disrespect to the former First Lady at several high-profile functions. One of those acts of disrespect, Mr Rawlings said, was Ms Tetteh’s tight grip on Mrs Rawlings’ hand during a handshake at an independence anniversary event.

Mr Rawlings said he sent a text message to former First Lady Lordina Mahama about the incident hoping it will get to former President John Mahama so that he [Mr Mahama] will call Ms Tetteh to order, but he never received any feedback from them.

“I sent a message to Mahama’s wife that if she [Hanna Tetteh] tries that again, what I will do to her will surprise everybody whether in public or private. I sent the message to Lordina hoping it will get to her husband but I didn’t get any feedback that she has been called to order, nothing. So you will not correct wrongdoers who will use violence?” he quizzed.

“Nobody should joke with me,” he added.
