Media General's ace broadcaster, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known in the media space as Captain Smart, has warned his media colleagues against criticizing the administration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
According to Captain Smart, these media practitioners were silent during the administration of the current president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and his team. Hence, they reserve no right to criticize Mahama should things go wrong in his administration.
Speaking on his morning show on Onua TV in a viral video, he mentioned Peace FM’s Kokrokoo host Kwami Sefa Kayi, Angel FM morning show host Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, and Good Evening Ghana show host Paul Adom Otchere.
He accused these individuals of receiving favours from the government, hence their silence on its ills. As a result, they merit no authority to vent on the upcoming government should it get things wrong.
“This year, the way I will deal with journalists in this country in this second republic... Kwami Sefa Kayi, if you like, resign. Paul Adom-Otchere, Okatakyie Afrifa, if you like, resign.
“Because the three of you, we will deal with you. If Mahama does something wrong, leave it for us to talk about it because you saw nothing bad about Akufo-Addo’s government. I will not pamper Mahama but don’t say anything if he goes wrong.
“Not that now that you won’t get favours, you will be criticizing Mahama. Don’t try. You sat down and saw the nation was going into a bad state, but you kept mute,” he said.
Former President John Dramani Mahama will assume office as president of the country again on January 7, 2025, after winning the 2024 election.
