The national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Portuphy has said it will be a great disservice to Ghana if the electorate vote for “divided” New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“We are not giving this country to Akufo-Addo and his people who are divided. Let’s keep the unity and volunteer to campaign so we win this victory one-touch,” Portuphy charged a teeming crowd of NDC supporters in Sunyani during their 2016 manifesto launch.
Although the national chairman is optimistic President John Mahama is securing a one-touch victory, he told the supporters to eschew complacency and move out in their numbers to vote on December 7.
“Nobody should think that we have won the elections already. Let us help the sick people, the needy people that we are winning. Let’s volunteer on voting day that we are bringing everybody out to vote. Let’s maintain the discipline and I encourage all of you to keep the discipline in the party.”
Earlier, the campaign coordinator of the NDC Kofi Adams said there is no alternative to President John Mahama in the December 7 polls.
Mr. Adams said Ghana has recorded unprecedented infrastructure development under the leadership of Mahama and has appealed to the electorate to renew his mandate.
“The good works that we (NDC) have done in the past few years in the region show that the region is swinging in favour of the NDC very seriously. If you travel around the country, you will bear witness to the level of development projects undertaken in the country. It is as if when you take away the NDC, no other party has been in power,” Mr. Adams, who doubles as the national organiser of the party said at the 2016 Manifesto launch of the party in Sunyani, Brong Ahafo.
He added: “Today is manifesto day, but we will come to every constituency to interact with you. Make sure that the contents of the manifesto and Accounting to the People book get to every household, do a door-to-door, room-to-room campaign. My brothers, there is no alternative to President John Dramani Mahama.”
Over 50,000 supporters have gathered at the Sunyani Coronation Park for the manifesto launch.
