A judge at the Court of Appeal, Justice Alexander Osei Tutu, has encouraged individuals preparing for marriage to make it a point to protect their private property interests.

According to him, most prospective couples often ignore the potential consequences of property ownership and distribution due to the excitement that comes with the preparations for a marriage ceremony, as reported by myjoyonline.com

"It's a normal thing for people to overlook the consequences when they are preparing to marry because, at that stage, they will be blinded by the love," he noted.

Justice Alexander Osei Tutu stated that marriage also involves significant legal implications, hence the need for couples to be aware of the potential outcomes related to property acquisition and distribution in the event of divorce or the death of a spouse.

He stressed the need for prospective couples to understand the legal ramifications of property ownership within a marriage.

"It's very necessary for would-be couples to know the consequences of their properties when it comes to divorce or maybe death," he stated.
