Don’t lose your guard in church; thieves 'worshipping' with you – CID boss warns public

The Director-General of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah is urging the public to be conscious of the security even in churches during the yuletide festivities indicating that mobile phones and handbag thieves are now in Churches, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

She observed that at no point must celebrants be confident that crimes are not perpetrated in churches and therefore will refuse to pay attention to their valuables including mobile phones and handbags indicating that criminals are lurking around to pounce on such opportunities.

In a video posted on the Facebook page of the Ghana Police Service she also warned against persons leaving things in their vehicles that have the potential of attracting criminals to break into them.

“While celebrating with our families and loved ones, let us be cautious of our security. Please ensure that you don’t leave your valuables in your vehicle because it attract thieves to break into your vehicle. Even in the church when we are going for collection, let us not leave our bags and mobile phones behind”, she warned.

The CID Boss also advised revelers to be moderate in the celebrations in order not to fall foul of the law reminding them of the need to be law abiding at all times as the country inches into 2019 stating that a lawful society brings about the needed development.

On behalf of the Criminal Investigations Department, she wished all a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year expressing hope that Ghanaians will be committed to supporting the police execute their mandate.
