In line with the government’s commitment to implement the “one district one factory” policy come early next year, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Robert Ahomka Lindsay has appealed to the media not be in a haste to report only on the challenges facing the policy.
According to him, running a business is not easy hence there are bound to be difficulties in every business but it takes a year or more of hard work before it can succeed.
The Deputy Minister who was speaking at the end of year party for Central Regional press corps organized by the governing regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives with an aim to thank the media within the region for their contributions during and after the presidential and parliamentary general elections, expressed concerns about the lack of jobs as challenges confronting the people in the Central Region as the result; making the region continue to be the fourth poorest in the area.
He observed that the implementation of the government’s policy of one district one factory will be the best way to resolve the unemployment situation in the region.
Mr. Ahomka Lindsay hinted that 15 companies have promised to set up businesses in the Central Region to create jobs for the residents in the region.
On his part, the Central Regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Robert Kutin Junior thanked the media for their fair reportage which resulted in the party winning 19 seats out of 23 seats and presidential as well.
He outlined the elections programme of the party revealing that they will soon elects their polling stations, constituencies and regional executives and called for media participation with truthful reportage to bring about peace during and after the elections.
According to the Chairman, NPP party led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo salute and hold the media high and esteem.
