Don’t take Bawumia seriously; he tells lies – Kofi Adams to Ghanaians

National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has warned Ghanaians to take every assertion of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia with a pinch of salt, as he’s not someone who should be taken seriously.

Kofi Adam’s comment is in response to Dr Bawumia’s assertion that the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has done more to mitigate the effects of any difficulties affecting Ghanaians since it assumed office 20 months ago, than what its predecessor [John Mahama] did in 8 years of office.

“Teacher Trainees are receiving their allowances. Nursing trainees are receiving their allowances. BECE candidates have their registration fees paid for them. We have doubled the Capitation Grant; 100,000 unemployed graduates are now under NABCO.

“Dumsor (rolling black outs) is not killing people’s businesses. Electricity tariffs have been reduced for us. About 17 or so taxes have either been reduced or abolished. There is no freeze on public sector employment. We have fertiliser subsidies under Planting for Food and Jobs.

“These are things that did not exist before we came into government, and if we had not addressed them, they were going to compound the hardships on all Ghanaians.

“So we have done tangible things to reduce the hardships on Ghanaians. We can point to them. Today the NDC is going around saying that there are hardships. So what we want to ask them, and I want to challenge them, a simple challenge: tell us what you have done in your last 8 years of government. Tell us the social interventions you brought in to reduce the hardships of Ghanaians” he was speaking at a joint Annual Dinner and Dance of the United Kingdom branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Young Executives Forum (YEF) on Saturday 20th October, 2018.

Speaking on host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa Fm, Mr. Adams said the vice president’s remarks is based on the NPP’s lack of understanding of social intervention as interventions such as construction of railways, building of schools, hospitals and extension of electricity to remote communities done under the NDC regime all merit social intervention.

“The NDC eliminated shift systems in our schools, we increase enrollment at the basic levels, what is of more social intervention than just this ones. Social intervention is not about sharing money. The whole idea about social intervention is to implement policies that will transform the living condition of your people”.

He added: “I’m surprise that Dr Bawumia is someone who is supposed to be an economist but in opposition he chin a lot of lies. So when he speaks, Ghanaians must not take him serious. Someone who told us his government won’t take loans when they win power, now they are going round borrowing, and calling it leverage”
He also criticize government for it implementation of the Nations builders corp (NABCo).

“They have announced that they have employed 100,000 young person’s meanwhile they are now writing to institutions to declare vacancy. My question is where is the 100,000 jobs for you to write to institution is asking them to declare vacancy”.
