Obuasi, May 27, GNA - Supervisors of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) have been warned against using the motorbikes supplied them by the government to go round campaigning for any political party. Mr Joseph Kwadwo Boampong, the Adansi West District Chief Executive, who gave the caution, stressed, "do not use the motorbikes for any party politics".
Handing over the keys of eight motorbikes to the District Co-ordinator of NFED, Madam Hectoria Boadi at a short ceremony at Obuasi on Monday, Mr Boampong emphasised that if the ruling NPP did not want the personnel to use the NFED facility to do politics for the party, then it would be a serious "offence for you to use them to do politics for those in opposition".
The District Chief Executive was, however, confident that the supervisors would perform well to raise literacy levels in the district.
"With the supply of these motorbikes, there will be no excuse, should you fail to perform your supervisory duties as required", he said.
Mr Boampong advised the NFED to target the youth who have dropped out of school since they are potential to the development of the nation. Madam Boadi urged the supervisors to work with dedication to justify the huge investment the government was committing into the NFED. She advised them to be extra careful when using the motorbikes so that they did not endanger their lives.
"The country needs your services in the promotion of literacy in the rural areas especially and therefore we are mindful of your lives", she stressed.
Madam Boadi further appealed to the supervisors to take good care of the bikes so that the district could derive maximum benefit from them.
The district co-ordinator also admonished the supervisors to refrain from engaging themselves in political campaigns with the motorbikes.
