Flagbearer hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has insinuated that it will be a waste of time to vote for a candidate who can rule just for one-term should the party wrestle power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in the 2020 election.

The former Minister for Trade and Industry said the NDC will unprecedentedly make the NPP one-term party in the 2020 election and it will not be prudent to also choose a candidate who does not have the constitutional mandate to rule the country for a second term.

Dr. Spio-Garbrah gave the explanations in an interview with Onua FM’s Yen Sempa on Thursday while sharing his ambitions to lead the opposition NDC into the 2020 elections.

“Why must we vote for someone who can only serve one term? Why must we vote for [a] one-term person with only four years, while I have the potential to serve for four-year-two-terms?” he queried.

The former Minister of Communications wondered: “Why must you struggle to uproot a party who has served for one term unprecedented and have someone who will also serve one term?”

On his experience, Dr. Spio-Garbrah explained that the over 270, 000 delegates who would be voting must know that he stands tall among all the candidates.

“I’m older than all the aspirants. I became a minister before any of them became a minister. I have held more ministerial portfolios than them all so I have experience than them all.”
