Dormaa DCE cuts sod for two school blocks

Asikasu, (B/A), Nov. 26, GNA - The Dormaa District Chief Executive Nana Emmanuel Duku has performed separate sod cutting ceremonies to commission two classroom blocks valued at 660 million cedis for Asikasu and Masu near Dormaa Ahenkro.

A six-classroom block valued at 445 million cedis was constructed by the District Assembly from the GETFUND to replace what could best be described as death trap under which, the Asikasu Methodist Primary School held classes, while a three-classroom block valued at 215 million cedis was built from the District Assemblies' Common Fund for the Masu Local Authority Primary School.

Nana Emmanuel Duku appealed to parents to put premium on their children's education, adding that, the nation's natural resources were diminishing fast, leaving the acquisition of knowledge as the only sure means of survival for the youth.

He called for the enforcement of strict maintenance culture to ensure that beneficiary communities derive maximum gains from the projects.

Mr Augustine Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, the Dormaa Ahenkro District Director of Education observed that, schools in the district have the potential to perform well if stakeholders make good their responsibility of the educational contract to propel the process.

Mr Ampaabeng Kyeremeh identified gambling as one major social vice hampering education among the youth in the Dormaa District and urged parents and teachers not to hesitate in exposing such deviant behaviour for timely intervention.

He commended the district assembly for the projects and assured them that the buildings would be used for the purpose intended. The Chief of Asikasu, Nana Ampaabeng Kyeremeh Ababio announced that the old dilapidated school block being replaced was constructed way back in 1936 and had never tasted renovation ever since.

He lauded the performance of the NPP government within the relatively short period of governance and pledged that he and his people would reciprocate the kind gesture come December 7, general elections. The traditional leader appealed to the district assembly to expedite action on the extension of electricity to the newly expanded parts of the Asikasu town
