Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central (RCARRC) on Tuesday honoured Dr Patrick Awuah (Jnr), Founder of Ashesi University College (AUC), a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF).
The PHF honour is recognition of the Rotary Foundation’s way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programmes.
The PHF is often designated as a tribute to persons whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation.
Mr Bernard Appiah Gyebi, President of the RCARRC said the honour is in recognition of Dr Awuah philanthropic and service to mankind that attributes and coincide with the very ideals of Rotary.
“It is a special expression of appreciation from the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central to Dr Awuah.”
Dr Awuah said AUC would partner the RCARRC to create opportunities for students who are ready to offer humanitarian service to their societies and communities.
He said Ashesi University is an inclusive university where a majority of local and foreign students from poor and economic backgrounds are on partial and full scholarship.
Dr Awuah said the scholarships are sponsored by philantropical organisations who donate most books in the AUC Library.
He thanked the RCARRC for the honour and assured the Rotarians of the AUC commitment to partner the club.
