About 250 diasporans were welcomed at James Town Accra by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as part of; "The Year of Return" celebration in Ghana. The group was led by Mr. Derrick Johnson; NAACP President and Mr. Danny Glover, a Hollywood Actor.
The Year of Return is the brainchild of the President, and has proved highly successful in bringing diasporans from the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, the Caribbean and other countries.
Dr. Thomas Mensah, the Fiber Optics Inventor, Nanotechnology Expert and Founder of Silicon Valley of Ghana also used the occasion to present to the President; a copy of his new book; "The “Right Stuff Comes in Black Too”, the African Edition. He also gave the President; a Tee Shirt and a baseball cap, emblazoned with the words; "The Right Stuff Comes in Black Too".
The Book demonstrates “the can do spirit of people of color” and emphasizes that people of African origin can do great things. Examples started with Imhotep the Architect and Designer of the Pyramids in Egypt over 2000 years ago to modern day leaders, heads of states in Africa, Leading Inventors, scientists, engineers, top Athletes, top entrepreneurs like; Aliko Dangote, Oprah Winfrey and heads of Fortune 500 companies, etc.
"The Right Stuff Comes in Black Too" with the foreword penned by; His Royal Majesty; Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will be launched at the Manhyia Palace by the Asantehene in the first week of October, 2019.
A Mahogany Akan stool will house the book that will be delivered by a drone from the sky to land at Manhyia grounds. History and tradition will meet 21 st century technology, with symbolism like the actual golden stool that descended from the sky to unite the Ashanti Kingdom under Nana Osei Tutu I.
The destination is Ghana in this "Year of Return" for Blacks in the diaspora and those on the continent of Africa to reconnect, and renew their kinship. The Spirit of the continent is rising higher. Uniting all its children no matter where they reside in the world as they meet in great numbers to affirm their common ancestry.
The Traditional Chiefs in Accra area also welcomed the diasporans with drums, music and dancing at James Town with the Light House in the background as a mark of history. A great sight as sons and daughters of Africa separated by historic events greet each other, hug and unite once more.
