Drama ensued at an Accra Circuit Court when two of three accused individuals confessed to stealing goats in the Teshie Camp Two area of Accra.

According to a myjoyonline.com report, Emmanuel Agyei, also known as "Obama," a fisherman, and David Agyei, a borehole driller, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft. The two are reported to have admitted to stealing locally bred goats on August 8, 2024.

However, the accused denied involvement in the theft of nine foreign-breed goats imported from Germany, valued at $13,500. The goats allegedly belong to one Seidu Yakubu, the complainant in the case.

According to the report, Emmanuel Agyei contended in court arguing, "The goat I stole doesn’t belong to the complainant. I have not seen the kind of goats the police are talking about. I have shown the complainant and the police where I stole the goats. I don’t know anything about the kind of goats the police are talking about in the pictures taken."

David Agyei, on the other hand, asserted his innocence regarding the foreign-breed goats, stating, "We did not steal from the complainant; the goats we stole were of an African breed."

The report explained that after hearing their statements, the court convicted both Emmanuel and David but deferred sentencing until September 2, 2024.

The third accused, Baba Musah, also known as Baba Talatu, a butcher, pleaded not guilty to the charge of dishonestly receiving stolen goods. He has been remanded into police custody.

The prosecution, led by Superintendent of Police Augustine Yirenkyi, revealed that the police are actively searching for three other accomplices identified as Nat, Aapah, and Boola Gee, who are currently at large.

The complainant, Seidu Yakubu, is a driver and animal farmer in the Teshie Camp 2 area. He reported that on August 11, 2024, at around 4:00 AM, he discovered that nine of his foreign-breed goats had been stolen.

Following the theft, the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) received a tip-off about a syndicate involved in car theft and goat stealing, operating in Teshie and James Town.

A surveillance operation led to the arrest of Emmanuel Agyei, David Agyei, and Baba Musah, while the other suspects managed to escape.

During interrogation, Emmanuel and David confessed to their involvement in goat theft and provided the police with information that led them to Boola Gee’s residence in James Town.

There, four sheep and two goats were discovered in a blue-black 2002 model Honda CRV with registration number GN 438-14 and a blue-black Nissan Altima with registration number GT 3107-18.

The accused disclosed that they, along with two other accomplices, Nathaniel and Aapah, stole and sold the livestock to Boola Gee. Baba Musah admitted to purchasing five goats from the trio for GH₵2,500.

On August 12, 2024, the complainant, Seidu Yakubu, identified two of the recovered goats as his at the Police Directorate.
