An automobile mechanic apprentice who recently completed his training had a graduation ceremony that might be considered 'awkward' by those unfamiliar with such customs.
A video shared on social media shows the graduate at the ceremony, where senior colleagues poured dirty vehicle oil over his head and the bare upper part of his body.
Surprisingly, the young man, who was made to kneel in front of a gathering of family members and loved ones, did not protest or resist.
Family members looked on as the very dark and visibly dirty oil was poured on him until he was completely drenched.
It is unclear whether this practice is common among graduating auto mechanics.
What has raised concerns among some members of the public, however, are the potential health risks the young man could face from the substance entering sensitive areas of his body, such as his eyes, nose, ears, and mouth.
