Kade, Aug. 12, GNA - Kwaku Asare, a driver, who failed to stop his vehicle when he was signalled to do so by the police, was on Thursday convicted to a fine of GHC 60 by the Kade District Magistrates' Court.
In default, Asare, who pleaded guilty with explanation, will serve a month in prison.
Police Inspector D. T. Nartey, prosecuting, told the court that, at about 09.32 hours on August 5, Asare was driving an Opel Astral taxi cab with registration number GW 51 X from Boadua towards Akwatia.
He said on reaching the junction of the Ghana Consolidated Diamond, Asare was signalled by the police to stop for a routine check but he failed to do so.
The prosecutor said Asare drove on and about 20 minutes later he was seen driving back to Boadua and the police this time managed to stop him and he was arrested.
When asked why he failed to stop, he pleaded for forgiveness, explaining that he did not see the signal asking him to stop.
