Akim Oda (E/R), Oct. 27, GNA - The Akim Oda Magistrate Court has imposed a fine of GH¢200.00 on Awudu Abubakari, a driver, for committing a number of driving offences. Abubakari who admitted the offences, would serve a 12-month prison term if he defaults in payment. Chief Inspector Adelaide Appia Korang told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor that on October 20 this year, at about 07.28 hours, the Akim Oda Divisional MTTU went on a routine motor check on the Akim Oda - Akim Swedru motor road. She stated that the MTTU team intercepted a DAF trailer vehicle with registration number AS788P, which was driven by Abubakari and that during inspection, it was detected that the vehicle was without a warning triangle. Chief Inspector Appea Korang stated further that the accused also failed to renew his road worthiness certificate, as well as failing to produce his driving licence. The vehicle was also without fire extinguisher. According to her, Abubakari was using a vehicle with a cracked windscreen and when the complainant, Lance Corporal Offei Ampomah, was detailed to join the vehicle to park it at the Akim Swedru Police Station, for the necessary action to be taken against the driver, he drove Corporal Ampomah towards an unknown destination. She stressed that as a result, Lance Corporal Ampomah called for re-enforcement to chase the vehicle and Abubakari was arrested at Akim Achiase.
