Cape Coast Circuit Court has granted a Gh¢20,000.00 bail to Kwame Tawiah, a 27-year-old driver for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement and the case has been adjourned to Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
Prosecuting, Sergeant Iddrissu Yakubu told the Court presided over by Mrs Dorinda Smith Arthur that the complainant, the father of the victim is a security man living in a compound house with Tawiah at Nkanfoa, a suburb of Cape Coast.
The Prosecutor said, sometime last year, at about 0700 hours Tawiah's wife sent the victim to accompany her husband to buy pork for her while the accused was on his way to work.
On their way towards Nkanfoa junction along the Cape Coast- Accra highway, Tawiah stopped his Taxi Cab, locked all the doors and had sexual intercourse with the victim.
Sergeant Yakubu said the act was repeated on five occasions and accused warned the victim not to inform her parents or his wife.
The prosecution said on Sunday, February 3, 2019, the victim narrated her ordeal to her father who subsequently reported the case to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), in Cape Coast leading his arrest.
