A driver’s mate caught with a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis was on Monday put before the Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Alex Obeng Asante.
The plea of Yaw Asiamah was not taken and was placed in prison custody to make his next appearance on September 4.
He was arrested on August 11, by a police officer, travelling on the same commercial bus, on which the accused was carrying the illicit drug.
Police Detective Inspector Bismark Peasah told the court that the officer had joined the vehicle from Kumasi to Konongo and took a seat near the accused.
The policeman became suspicious after smelling the “cannabis” which was coming from Asiamah bag and ordered him to bring the drug out.
Reluctantly, he pulled out the substance, which he had concealed in a black polythene bag and he was arrested.
The prosecution said samples of the drug had been sent for test at the police forensic laboratory.
