Dzifa Attivor is afraid of her own shadow – NPP

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it has a strong feeling that former Transport Minister, Dzifa Aku Attivor did something wrong while she was in office.

Therefore, she believes that a change of government will expose her and may even end up in prison.

Because of this she wants protection which could only be guaranteed by the ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) continues stay in power.

Volta Regional Chairman of the NPP, John Peter Amewu interacting with Accra-based Okay FM, Wednesday, that if Attivor has done wrong she wouldn’t have entertained that fear and make those comments which has ethnocentric undertone.

“Attivor is afraid of her own shadow. She believes she has done something wrong and it is only the NDC that can protect her”, he noted.

Attivor during the campaign launch of Fifi Fiave Kwetey, MP for Ketu South, at Wodoaba in the Ketu South District, mounted the platform and told the residents of Aflao to spread the message to their relatives living in neighbouring Togo to come to Ghana and register when the Electoral Commission opens the Limited Voters’ Registeration exercise on Thursday, April 28, 2016.

This, she argued, will enable them to vote massively for Fifi Kwetey and President John Mahama to retain them in office because a change in government will spell doom for them.

The Limited Voters’ Registration exercise is to enable new voters who have attained the age of 18 and above as well as those who qualify but were unable to register to do so.

Dzifa further contends that if the NDC wins in the next election, it will save her from being jailed, citing the NPP as a tribal party bent on witch hunting Ewes, should it win the general elections in November.

Referring to the record of the NPP government from 2001 to 2008, Attivor argued that the elephant family targeted only members of her ethnic group for prosecution.

“When the NPP came to power in 2001, a lot of our people were sent to prison; Victor Selormey, Dan Abordakpui, and so on, was imprisoned. Was it because no other person committed crime in Ghana? But it was only Ewes that they jailed”.

“I want to entreat you not to do anything for me and Fifi Kwetey to go to prison. It lies with you all to ensure that no Ewe person goes to prison. So I am pleading with you to work hard and deliver the 120 thousand votes target for the party in the constituency”, she stressed.

But Amewu commenting further condemned the statement of the former Transport Minister, noting that the Judiciary has not been selective in the discharge of its duties.

“NPP is a party which cannot and will never do that. There are state institutions that are responsible. The Ghanaian Judiciary is one of the highest respected institutions in the world. Is Dzifa Attivor saying the judges who handle cases cannot be trusted?”

“During the tenure of President Kufour, there were people like Sipa Yankey who were tried. Is Sipa Yankey from Volta Region? Kwame Peprah is not from Volta Region. Malam Issah too is not from Volta Region and so why such a statement?”

“She is doing that because the registration period is closer and that she thinks that she should go back to the people of Volta Region to tell this tribalistic statement they will be able to have some favour on her and come out in their numbers to register and vote for the NDC. This is unacceptable”, he fumed.

According to him the high level of apathy in the NDC is very difficult to comprehend with and the only option they could use was to play tribal cards to once again win the favour of the people.

“The NDC is a clever party. They took a lot of logistics to Togo, shared them among the people to come to Ghana and vote for them. Meanwhile, their own people at home were suffering because they didn’t give them anything. So, there is so much apathy in the region and realizing this, they have resorted to this strategy. Now they are suffering because they creatd their own problem”.
