Dzifa Attivor’s comment ‘tribalistic’ - Lecturer

Former Transport Minister, Madam Dzifa Attivor Former Transport Minister, Madam Dzifa Attivor

A political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Mr. Mohammed Abass has described statement from Dzifa Attivor former Transport Minister as "tribalistic", and an act that can polarized the nation.

According to him, the statement by Dzifa Attivor is sad and problematic and poses negative effects on our body politics.

Madam Dzifa Attivor at a rally ground yesterday reportedly called on residents in the Volta Region to vote massively for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) because if they fail to do so, and the NPP wins, all Ewes will be jailed.

She said the NPP have plotted to jail appointees of the Mahama led administration should it win political power, hence the residents should do their best and maintain the NDC in power.

But the political scientist expressed worry over the comments and called for it to be condemned.

However, he noted, he will not fault or blame the former Minister entirely because tribal politics is part of Ghana’s body politics' and it what was about time Ghanaians speak against it. He added, all the political parties are guilty of the same crime therefore Ghanaians should look at the issue objectively.

Mr. Mohammed Abass speaking in an interview with Rainbow Radio opined that, the statement is coming at the wrong time because Ghana has "grown past the age of such primitive statements and 'stone age' kind of politics".
