President John Agyekum Kufuor, yesterday, dipped his hand into his political arsenal, and hit back at Enoch Teye Mensah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo/Prampram describing him as a pretender with a sheepish outlook.
According to President Kufuor, E.T. Mensah's, who is also the National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice chairman, criticism of his administration was misplaced, because he lacked moral authority to do so.
Addressing a mammoth rally to round up the New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign for tomorrow's by-election, at Bukom Square, in the heart of Accra, the President said it was unfortunate for a character like E.T. Mensah, who, during his visit to Ningo/Prampram, was following him like a sheep with his hands behind him, begging for favours from his administration, to now turn round to say that the Kufuor Government can not see good things.
"Two years ago, I went to Ningo/Prampram to inspect a bridge without a head or tail, he followed me like a sheep. He followed me like "Ogwyan" (ram) from Ningo to Prampram. This is a disgrace. That man was standing there sheepishly. Today, he says The Kufuor Administration cannot see good things," he said. Such people, the President noted, will never respect the people's mandate and asked the people of Odododiodioo Constituency to vote for Lennox Sidney Asafoatse Kojo Mankattah, to carry on from were his father stopped.
President Kufuor wondered why E.T. Mensah described his government as an out-date one, when the Ningo-Prampram MP does not know the value of such an important bridge like the one linking Ningo/Prampram, which has been constructed by the NPP Administration within a period of one year. "This man now stands on a platform, to say that my government cannot see beautiful things, when in 20 years, they cannot build a common bridge for his people. These people do not deserve your votes. They will chop your money, and go and disgrace you."
President Kufuor's reaction was promoted by ET Mensah's reference to the ruling government in the following words, at an NDC rally earlier, "there is a difference between how a cow sees grass and how it sees sugar. When you put sugar and grass in two bowls and ask the cow to choose, it would choose grass. The people are cows. They do not appreciate nice things."
President Kufuor said the people of Odododiodioo deserve a young and talented MP who can help the people to bring development to the area. "You should not vote for tired and old people who thing that politics is all about violence. They had 20 years, but could not do anything for the people of Bukom.
