President, Akufo-Addo’s decision to forward a petition brought against the chairperson of Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Charlotte Osei to the Chief Justice (CJ) Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo for further action, smacks of bias, this is according to a communicator of the opposition National Democratic Congress.
“The patriotic nature of the President was thrown out in responding to the bogus petition filed by faceless members of New Patriotic Party (NPP) calling for the removal of the EC chair”
According to National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator in the Ashanti Region, the President on assumption of office has received at least four petitions from the public but never responded to any of them.
“If my memory serves me right, on the 13th of January/February this year there about, a driver called Ernest Obiri Lartey who petitioned the presidency over Anas’ investigations which led the removal of some judges from office that some of the accused judges were friends of the former CJ Georgina Wood so they were spared from investigation. Petition was sent to the President to investigate but Nana Addo chose to ignore it”, Mr. Prince Nyarko claims.
“The presidency again was petitioned to investigate allegations against then Energy Minister nominee, Boakye Agyarko and that one was also not responded by President Akufo-Addo”, he stated.
“I can give more and more examples including that of NDC Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, Brogya Genfi against Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta”.
“The President is bias and I am much convinced that that all these petitions were thrown into dustbin for obvious reasons”.
According to Prince Nyarko, the petition filed by Lawyer Maxwell Opoku Aggyemang on behalf of Concerned Staff of EC lacks a dates and signatories and that one is also enough for the President to do same.
“The President should have known this on merit and thrown the petition against Madam Osei way” he said.
