Accra, May 5, GNA - The Electoral Commission (EC) on Friday gave the assurance that there were enough forms to register all newly qualified voters.
"We have enough forms at the regional and district offices to meet the demand of the exercise," Mr Albert Kofi Arhin, EC Director of Elections, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Accra. He said "we do not anticipate any shortage of registration forms at the designated polling stations".
He said the EC had 1.5 million voter registration forms for the 10-day revision exercise based on projected figures. It is anticipated that about one million voters would be registered.
Mr Arhin noted that compilation of credible voters' register was very crucial in ensuring that election results would be acceptable and that all those who had attained the voting age and those who could not register should avail themselves of the opportunity to register. He said the EC had statistics on the registration pattern in the country and thus started with a "Cautious Distribution" of the registration forms as a control mechanism to avoid wastage at polling stations. The EC asked all those, who have queries or complaints about the exercise should direct them to its officials at the national, regional and district offices instead of calling radio stations. 05 May 06
