The coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Transparent Elections has commended the Electoral Commission of Ghana for conducting the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections transparently.

Ebenezer K. Havor, President of the Positive Transparency and Accountability Movement-Ghana (PTAAM-GH), an anti-corruption advocacy group, who doubles as a member of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Transparent Elections, stated that despite an ongoing dispute regarding some of the parliamentary results in the elections, the EC has performed exceptionally.

Speaking in an interview on Benya FM on December 18, 2024, he stated, “In my view, I will give the EC 95 percent for accurate delivery in terms of the electoral process.”

He further condemned the post-election violence and accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of going against the laws of the country in seeking a recount of ballot papers.

He alleged that the laws regarding the elections do not permit this.

The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa, on Monday, December 9, declared John Dramani Mahama the winner of the 2024 presidential elections with a total of 6,328,397 votes.

Dr. Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the NPP, received 4,657,304 votes.

Mahama's party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), achieved historic success by gaining a majority in Parliament. Moreover, there is a pending result of about five constituencies' parliamentary elections.
