The Deputy Chairman in Charge of Corporate Services of the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Bossman Asare, has disclosed that the commission is not hiding anything from Ghanaians or the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants voter registration re-exhibited so that the public can see the faults that the Electoral Commission (EC) claims to have fixed.

Tanko Rashid-Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, told Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News that re-exhibiting the voter register should be straightforward for the EC to do in order to boost the legitimacy of the upcoming elections.

Reacting to the call from the opposition party, the EC Deputy Chairman stated in an interview on Joy News’ NewsFile that the commission has nothing to hide, hence the opposition party can decide to have an open discussion.

“If they [NDC] still have concerns that those issues have not been addressed, we need to sit down and explain everything to them [NDC]. We’ll get our IT experts to explain everything. NDC mentioned 3,400 with any substantive evidence, and we also said if you don’t have any issue." He disclosed.

Dr. Bossman further added that before the election takes place on December 7, the Electoral Commission will give all political parties access to the voter register to be sure all discrepancies have been rectified. He further urged the NDC party to come forward for a discussion over the voters’ register.
