The Electoral Commission of Ghana has officially declared Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate, as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Dome/Kwabenya constituency.
At a brief ceremony held at the Electoral Commission's headquarters on December 31, 2024, the Returning Officer reaffirmed her earlier declaration on December 8, 2024, following a prolonged collation of results.
Elikplim Akurugu secured 50,967 votes, defeating the NPP's parliamentary candidate, Mike Oquaye Jnr, who received 50,669 votes.
Prior to this announcement, the EC had planned a re-run for the disputed polling station at the Abokobi Women’s Training Center in the Dome/Kwabenya constituency.
This declaration means that the EC will no longer conduct the re-run for the disputed polling station.
