Some staff of the Electoral Commission have petitioned Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu to probe former EC Chair Charlotte Osei for allegedly causing financial loss to the state.

The staff, whose petition was what resulted in the dismissal of Mrs Osei and her two deputies: Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwah, and subsequent appointment of Mrs Jean Mensa by President Nana Akufo-Addo, claim that Mrs Osei, during her tenure, signed dubious deals involving Aerovote, STL, Dreamoval, and Quarzar.

The petition signed by Mr Forson Ampofo and Mr Godsway Dadjoe, said: “The procurement activities include the engagement of Sory@Law and Associates for the Commission; the award of several contracts to STL; the two contracts for the partitioning and consultancy service of the new office block; the three contracts awarded for the construction of pre-fabricated district offices of the Commission and consultancy services thereof; the two contracts awarded to Dreamoval Ltd… and finally the two contracts awarded to Quazar Limited from South Africa”.

The petition said these contracts were awarded by Mrs Osei “contrary to the Public Procurement Act”.

The petitioners are also demanding that Mrs Osei be probed in connection with her acquisition of a new Head Office for the EC while in office.
