Social media users have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Electoral Commission after its decision to re-collate parliamentary results of some nine constituencies in the 2024 general elections.
According to the EC, this has become necessary because the declaration of the results of these constituencies was marred with various inconsistencies.
The constituencies include Tema Central, Ablekuma North, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ahafo Ano South West and Ahafo Ano North.
The NDC sought to place an injunction on the process at the Accra High Court but was overturned.
The EC has then proceeded to re-collate the results leading to victory for six NPP parliamentary candidates.
Users on X have described the EC as a “failure” while noting that this will set a bad precedent for future elections in the country.

Every single bad precedent in the 4th republic was set by this government. What a shit show

The EC has been shambolic in its handling of the elections for a very long time. Imagine if the presidential election results had not been beyond doubt… https://t.co/8Rf35qXv8y

Whether they genuinely won or not is not even matter here. What we are witnessing means that one day a presidential candidate can be declared winner and without evidence or a court order, the returning officer can just declare a different person and we are to recognize that

What is obvious beyond doubt is that all have accepted that Jean Mensah is a force for evil and a threat to the stability of Ghana's democracy. Nothing other than her removal from office will be enough justice for the people of Ghana. She must be gone.

After all this chaos, we are unlikely to hear the political parties calling for serious reforms because they are ultimately the ones who benefit from the needlessly layered transmission of election results.

Jean Mensa is the worst EC chair in the history of ECs. After taking more than two days to collate results, which TV stations completed in a day, she then went ahead to recollate results for MPs who clearly lost and now she’s declaring them winners. And all this for what?

We need reform(s) with the way the EC conducts its business during elections. If this election had been a close one, there could have been so much trouble & chaos.

The EC is setting a dangerous precedent. An extremely dangerous one.

The EC is playing with our democracy. Arrest her and her cohorts should any violence happen.
