The Electoral Commission (EC) has said it will hold on with the publication of notice of polls until all court cases following the disqualification of some presidential aspirants have been cleared.

According to the Greater Accra Regional Director of the EC, Mr Kwame Amoah the move will however not in any way affect the calendar of the commission in the conduct of the December 7 election.

Mr Amoah made this known at a training programme on election reporting for journalists in Accra on Tuesday.

The training was to build the capacity of journalists to be abreast with CI 94, which is the constitutional instrument governing this year’s elections and the electoral process.

Mr Amoah said CI 94 did not give a specific time for the publication of the notice of polls.

He said what was stated in the CI 94 was that the notice of poll should be published as soon as the EC receive the nomination.

Mr Amoah said the commission was going to use both the manual and electronic verification for election.

On the filing fee or deposit, Mr Amoah said the law gives the EC the power to determine the fee.

And at the end of the election, Presidential candidates who get 25 per cent will have their fee refunded and with the parliamentary candidates who get 12.5 per cent, in the election, their money will be refunded.
