Ho, Oct. 16, GNA - The Electoral Commission (EC) would receive the nomination papers of Captain George Nfodjoh (Rtd), Member of Parliament for Ho Central if he filed the papers to contest the seat in the December elections.
"This is because the EC is not party to a supposed litigation over Captain Nfodjoh's nomination," Miss Laurentia Kpatakpa, Volta Regional Director of the E C said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Ho on Thursday.
She said the EC would therefore process Captain Nfodjoh's nomination papers if he duly presented the papers. Miss Kpatakpa said so far there had been no notice from any organization or individual to impress on the EC to refuse Captain Nfodjoh's nomination papers and that in her opinion, the supposed litigation was an "intra-party affair". She said the EC would however respond appropriately to any development resulting from the litigation if the need arose. Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC told the He said the party was unaware of any court order barring Captain Nfodjoh from filing his papers.
Captain Nfodjoh, whose bid for a second run for the seat was delayed by litigation at the courts, was acclaimed the party's candidate for the constituency last Sunday in Ho. Proceedings of the delegates' conference were supervised by Johnson Akafia, Ho Municipal Director of the EC.
