The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) will on Monday launch the 2016 Country Profile of Ghana in Accra.

The objective of this initiative is to provide policy analysis and specific recommendations for Ghana to achieve structural transformation, which in turn will promote sustainable growth, social development, as well as regional integration and social inclusion, according to its statement.

The theme for the 2016 Country Profile of Ghana is: “Poor energy supply hampers growth in Ghana”.

According to the country profile, the proper functioning of the industry sector and much of the service sector depends on a reliable energy supply.

Serious problems in the availability of quality energy, therefore, have a negative impact on the prospects for economic recovery in Ghana.

The event will be held after the launch of the African Social Development Index (ASDI) sub regional Report for West Africa, during the launch of the 2016 country profile of Ghana.

The Country Profiles include various innovations such as the African Regional Integration Index, co-designed by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Union Commission (AUC), based on the five pillars of regional integration (trade, infrastructure, production, free movement of people, and financial and macroeconomic integration).
