ECG provides list of communities hit by ‘dumsor’ due to GRIDCo power supply reduction

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has given a reason why over 45 communities in the nation’s capital, Accra, are experiencing power outages, popularly known as dumsor, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

According to the company, the outages are a result of a reduction in power supply by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO).

“The Electricity Company of Ghana, Accra East & West Regions, wish to inform our cherished customers and the general public that the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO) has reduced power supply to our Bulk Supply Points since 6:00 am resulting in outages,” parts of a statement the ECG issued on Wednesday, reads.

The company went ahead to list the communities affected by the outages including Odorkor, Kwashieman, Part of Santamaria, Kwashiebu, Race Course, Tabora, Kingsway, Central Police Station (MTTD), Musuku, Balloon Gate, Haatso Yam Market, and Legon Botanical Gardens

The other affected communities are Kitase, Ahwerease, Ashongman, Gbawe Bulemi, Gonse, Djaman, Oblogo, Parts of Weija Dam Site, Okponglo, Shiashie, Darkuman, Agbogbloshie, Abossey Okai Central Mosque, Christian Village, Kisseiman, Part of Westland, Haatso, Hydrofam Estates, Frempongmaa Estates, and Okpoi Gonno.

The remaining are Part of Airport Residential Area, Roman Ridge, DevTraco Estates, Djen Ayor, Part of Ogbojo, ARS, Part of Lartebiokorshie, Part of Mamprobi, Dome, Part of Kokomlemle, Labone, La, Alisa Hotel and surrounding areas.
