Kumasi, April 8, GNA - The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has embarked on a number of projects in the Ashanti Region to help to improve the quality of its services to customers. These include the construction of an additional supply point centre at Anwomaso in Kumasi, two primary sub-stations at Kenyase and Fawoade in the Kwabre East District, high voltage distribution system (HVDS) at the Suame Magazine and the provision of two switching stations at Ejisu and Kuntanase.
Dr Kwabena Anoma, an engineer at the Kumasi East office of the company, announced this during an interaction with a section of the media in Kumasi on Friday. It was meant to provide them with some insight into what the ECG was doing to enhance its operations. He blamed occasional outages to high voltage, cable faults, excavation and cutting of underground cables, storms and lighting, which affect distribution lines and others. Dr Anoma said they were doing everything to address the operational challenges to enhance efficiency. He urged consumers to make sure that they engaged only the services of qualified electricians to wire their houses to avoid disasters.
He invited the media to support the ECG in its efforts at promoting operational efficiency through public education. Mr Erasmus Baidoo, the Regional Public Relations Manager, appealed to customers to pay their bills promptly to help the company to provide them with quality services.
