The police and military were giving no chance for stray or stubborn revellers who may want to defy the presidential lockdown and social distancing orders to have fun at some beaches in Accra.

GhanaWeb’s cameras captured some defiant residents at the Chorkor Beach on Easter Sunday, who had gone there to swim, and play amidst the fast-spreading Coronavirus pandemic.

The report which went viral attracted swift response from the police who in less than 3 hours, rushed to the place to deal with the situation and arrest the recalcitrant persons involved.

Easter Monday wasn’t any different. With various armoured and police cars, personnel were stationed at various beaches across the country.

GhanaWeb’s tour on Monday captured military and police personnel at some beaches including the Labadi Beach, Titanic Beach at Sakumono, Chorkor Beach and the Dansoman beaches.

Meanwhile, Accra Regional Police PRO, Efia Tenge has warned all persons to stay away from the country’s beaches or face arrest.

According to her, some arrests were made after Sunday's incidence and the service will continue to keep watch to ensure discipline.

She said this during a visit to the Labadi beach to monitor happenings in the area.
