Eating while crossing busy roads blasted

Winneba (C/R), March 23, GNA-Miss Gifty Brebu, the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Coordinator of school Health Education Programme (SHEP) has appealed to School children not to cross busy roads while eating or engage themselves in conversation to avoid being knocked down by vehicles. She said in some cases school children that are knocked down by vehicles were those who were either eating or playing while crossing the lorry road.

Miss Brebu was addressing school children from thirty basic schools in the district at separate meetings as part of her official tour of some schools in the area.

They schools include Bawjiase Primary and JSS, Fiankor and JSS, Ofaada Primary, Jeikrodua and Papase JSS.

Miss Brebu also advised the children not to engage themselves in serious conversation while crossing busy roads and also look from side to side before attempting to cross. The Health coordinator urged parents to ensure that their children, especially the small ones are fed in the house before dressing up to school to avoid soiling their dresses with the food they would buy on their way to school.

She urged the children to avoid sex and other negative tendencies that could hinder their education but rather take their studies serious to enable them pass their examination. She told them to be mindful of their sexual behaviour to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS because the disease still has no cure. Miss Brebu urged the children to ensure personal hygiene to enable them to be healthy always. 22 March 07
