The 2024 National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema Central, Ebi Bright, has filed a suit at the Supreme Court to challenge the declaration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Charles Forson, as the winner of the 2024 election.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com, the NDC candidate raises allegations of irregularities and challenges the validity of Forson’s victory.

She asserts that the declaration of Charles Forson as the winner of the election by the Electoral Commission was wrong. She is challenging the final tally of results declared by the EC.

According to the petitioner, some polling agents of the NPP interfered in the collation of results at the Chemu SHS collation center. This, she says, compromised the transparency of the final results and affected the fairness of the electoral outcome.

She posits that the declaration of Charles Forson as the MP-elect was made under questionable circumstances and alleges that the declaration breached constitutional provisions and electoral regulations.

As part of her reliefs, the NDC candidate is asking the apex court to issue an order declaring the Tema Central result as null and void.

She is further asking the court to mandate a re-run of the Tema Central Constituency election.

The court is expected to hear the case in the coming weeks.
