Eclipse: Tourists flock to Takoradi

Most hotels in the Sekondi-Takoradi area in the Western Region have been fully booked by tourists who want to view the eclipse, which is expected to occur on Wednesday.
The visitors are mostly from Europe, but they also include Africans and Ghanaians from the northern part of the country, Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo regions.
The areas around Busua, Agona Nkwanta, Pricess Town and Takoradi, all in the Western Region, are expected to be among the places where one can have the best view of the eclipse.
Hotel Manager of Busua Beach Resort, Ato Frempong told the Times newspaper that all of the hotel?s 800 rooms had been fully booked from March 27 to 29.
He said a reception is being organized to welcome the visitors with cultural displays.
Mr Frempong disclosed that the management had applied to the police for adequate security at the hotel to ensure the safety of customers during the period.
Other hotels with full patronage are Melody Hotel, Takoradi Beach Hotel, Ahenfie Hotel, Anniemens and Mexico.
The eclipse would be seen in 192 communities in eight out of the 13 districts in the region.
The districts include Jomoro, Nzema East, Ahanta West, Shaman-Ahanta, Mpohor-Wassa, Wassa West, Amenfi East and Amenfi West.
