Mr. Ustaz Yakubu Salifu, Eastern Regional Secretary of the People National Convention (PNC) says the Mahama led National Democratic Congress (NDC) is bleeding from leadership problem and until that is addressed there would not be any sign of economic recovery.
According to the PNC Secretary, the country’s economic woes would hit a rooftop in the coming days if the leadership of the country is not changed.
“We are at a cross road where mediocre are allowed to run the affairs of the country, the country will continue to spell doom if these crop of low level headed people are not changed”, Mr. Yakubu Salifu emphasized.
He added the problem of our country particularly in the area of the economy is about leadership crisis. We don’t have men of integrity and the few ones we have do not only lack effective leadership skills but are been put at the wrong places.
Mr. Salifu explained that, Ghana has not developed its full potentials to the advantage of its people and rather lag behind because it has failed to give administrative powers to the right people with the right abilities to steer the socioeconomic affairs of the country.
He made the observation in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital during a meeting with party supporters to speed up preparations ahead of the party’s National congress which is about to take place.
He has therefore called on well-meaning Ghanians to move from electing or appointing people to very key and sensitive sectors of the economy based on their political affiliation or financial strength and rather looked at the capabilities of the person.
The Eastern Regional Secretary was of the view that, not everybody with a sound financial position has managerial and leadership abilities, hence people should look beyond that as a benchmark of appointing individuals into positions.
Touching on the yet to be announced date and venue for the party’s national congress, the PNC secretary disclosed that, plans are far advanced for the party to hold its national congress to elect new national executives and flag bearer.
Like the NDC government, Mr. Salifu averred that, the PNC is suffering from leadership crisis and called on delegates to vote for men and women of substance who can revive the spirit of the party.
He noted that, most often than not, people who were elected by delegates to fight and project the philosophies and ideologies of the party rather end up becoming propagandists for other political parties which has not helped the course of the PNC.
Paying tribute to the late Dr. Hilla Liman, he said “ in life and in death and in life ever, the ideals of the late Dr. Hilla Liman in blessed memories who is the founder of the PNC would remain the only practical requirements with which the social political fabric of our existence as a nation ought to and must be woven”.
Mr. Salifu declared that, the late number one gentleman of the land was an embodiment of the best in everything he did, brilliant political Diplomat and astute politician and statesman of unblemished equanimity and excellent character.
He continued that, unlike the Mahama led administration, Dr. Liman was a leader who had a vision and plan to the direction of the country but was not allowed to bring his plans to the fore by some group of selfish Ghanaians.
